To see like a songwriter is the easiest. . . . Hearing like a writer is a lot harder; you've got to really listen. -- Bono

"I had some time before everyone else got back to work and decided to find a project that might bring me into some new areas of music composition. Paul put the word out and we got an offer to do the soundtrack for a little English movie called Captive... I asked Michael Brook, a Canadian technical guru whom I met through Eno and Lanois, to collaborate with me... We recorded one song with a very young singer called Sinead O'Connor. It was a welcome change from working with the band, and I made some discoveries that I brought back with me, one of which was actually a Michael Brook invention, the Infinite guitar, which was to become a very important part of the next U2 record." - The Edge, U2 By U2 2006

Afraid but he will not run
Alone thy will be done
Confessed but you still feel the shame
Bring me into your arms again

Touch these eyes with a broken smile
Touch my mouth with your furrowed brow
Lift my heart, feel my shame
Lead me into rest again

The night is long but the day will come
Leave promises for the chosen one
Sew the seed, sweet taste the rain
Fall tonight into my arms again

The night is long but the day will come
Leave promises for the chosen one
Sew the seed, sweet taste the rain
Fall dead of night into the light of day
