I'm a journalist and editor from Southern California whose life revolves around playing with 26 letters. My favorite is "U."
I was a Bono fan before I became a U2 fan. I saw him in the early 2000s on a news show talking about his social justice work. It was poetry. His way of talking about the world drew me in. He wasn't just a rock star attaching his name to a charity event; he was a prophet. And not a pious one.
I have seen him numerous times over the years at events where he's been a speaker or received an award for his non-U2 work, and every time I love him more. I have touched his hand once, and his shoulder another time. One day: a hug.
My U2 obsession began in 2005 when I attended a concert in Anaheim as a journalist to review a Vertigo tour show. I was so deeply affected that I couldn't sleep for three days -- and wrote the most embarrassingly gushing review ever. I started reading everything I could about the band, and discovered @U2. To be a staff member for the site is honestly one of the biggest honors of my life.
U2 fans are the best. I've met so many of them from around the world at concerts, whether standing in line or squashed together in GA, or online via this site and others.
I also love sunshine, Winnie-the-Pooh and Harry Potter. Dream dinner group: A.A. Milne, J.K. Rowling, and of course, well, you know.
My website is www.karenlindell.com.
p.s. I do a lot of the copy editing around here, so if something is spelled wrong or grammatically incorrect, you can blame me.
