Vintage U2
@U2,
March 19, 2010
With nearly 6,000 items in our news archives, it's a safe bet you haven't read all of them! This month we take a look back at 1981. Autumn Fire, Hot Press October is a Christian LP. People will react to this fact in different ways: snide, disappointed, alienated, unconcerned, overtly happy. I accept it because at the core of U2 is honesty, and therefore, the only way their music can continue to be successful is if they are honest. And honesty is... Kings of the Celtic Fringe, NME "Adam used to pretend he could play bass. He came round and started using worlds like action and fret and he had us baffled. He had the only amplifier so we never argued with him. We thought this guy must be a musician, he knows what he's talking about and then one day we discovered he wasn't playing the right notes, that's what's wrong, y'know?" U2 Versus the U.S., Hot Press "Did you call that car of mine a cab?" "Whaa..." Turn slowly, what's the fury? We've just left the Detroit Holiday Inn after Bono has taped a cable TV interview and suddenly there's this angry, really angry, freak who looks like he's had a psychedelic revival of his own from alcohol and/or whatever synthetic substances he's ingested.
