Vintage U2
@U2,
October 20, 2009
In looking through our massive news archives, I found myself thinking back to 1983, which is the year I became a U2 fan. My bedroom walls were plastered with their posters and I eagerly read any articles about them that I could find. The very first interview I read was in Musician magazine, which is mainly memorable because I discovered that Bono was married. NO! My 19-year-old self was sooo disappointed. I still think the "stumpy, princely Bono Vox" description is amusing. One of the things I had on my bedroom wall was an artsy, two-page spread from Record, which was a U.K. music newspaper. For some reason, the headline is so strong in my mind that I can still remember exactly where it was on the wall. The stars aligned that same year and I was lucky enough to meet the whole band. I had them sign the first page of this article from Rolling Stone and it's still in the original cheap frame I hastily placed it in for protection. And it's the one thing out of all my U2 posters that has always remained on my walls
