"As regards Zoo TV, it's so logical for U2 to do this -- I don't think they understand exactly what they are doing and I like that. It takes guts." -- Gavin Friday |

U2 to Appear at Dublin Store
UTV,
September 22, 2006
A flagship Dublin bookstore will completely shut down tomorrow while U2 members host an exclusive signing of their new book.
Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. will autograph copies of U2 By U2 for 250 lucky fans at Easons, on the capital's main thoroughfare, O'Connell Street. Easons general manager Martin Black confirmed the store would not open until 3 p.m. for public safety reasons. "It's the worst-kept secret in town and we expect hundreds of people outside by tomorrow morning, queuing overnight even," he said. "Saturday is usually our busiest day of the week but we took the decision to close in consultation with the Garda." "We apologise to all customers for any inconvenience this may cause." U2 is currently recording their new album at London's Abbey Road studios. The 250 fans given access to tomorrow's event won competitions on U2's website and several radio stations. Easons previously closed its doors in August 2004 when former U.S. president Bill Clinton signed copies of his autobiography. Mr. Black expects U2 By U2, which goes on sale today, to be an automatic Christmas bestseller for the supergroup. "Oh, it's a certain number one. No question," he said." "It's well-produced with good photographs. It's the first time the lads have actually sat down and written about their own lives in their own words." © UTV, 2006.
