@U2 QOM September 2009: It's back-to-school time. Can you imagine Bono, Edge, Adam or Larry as teachers? What would they teach? What would a class be like?
@U2,

(Each month, @U2 puts a spotlight on U2 fans with our "Question of the Month." We pose a question to our readers and invite answers of 200 words or less. If you're interested in taking part, check our home page to see if the current question is still open. If not, check back shortly after the beginning of next month and we'll have another question ready to be answered!)
Michele Picuri: Adam would be a good Sex Ed teacher!! ;) Lorraine Johal: This was kinda easy. I think Bono would teach social sciences, world religions, philosophy, psychology, anthropology and sociology. Edge would be teaching health & physical education. Adam would teach the arts, dance, music, drama, media studies, visual arts. And Larry would do math and science. Arwen: It's kind of hard to imagine them as teachers but I'll give it a shot. Bono: current events - he would probably talk a lot about Africa. The Edge: Science or math - it would be really cool to have him as a science teacher, he might talk about hurricanes or something, or as a math teacher we might learn all that math stuff it takes to build a guitar :). Adam: English - he's really polite and has a really calm personality, so he'd probably be a good English teacher . Larry: Social studies - I can just imagine him jumping around the room yelling about stuff! Jean Scarth: Bono would teach Sex Ed. what would a day in THAT class be like?? WOAH. As a female Bono-lover, I can only imagine and I probably shouldn't share...(plus my HUSBAND said that Bono would teach Sex Ed! before I did!) Larry would teach Gym or Shop. complete with lots of hitting things. Adam would teach Study Hall or Home Economics...with time spent on how to brew the perfect cup of tea. Edge would teach Physics or Calculus...complete with guest lecture by Stephen Hawking while Edge "narrated" with some guitar in the background. Donna Przybojewski: For the past two years, during the Halloween season, I have dressed up as Bono for my junior high students. I made the students address me as Mr. Hewson and spent the day carrying around a guitar and teaching the students about social justice and how we must be responsible for those who have educational and medical needs, as well as the need to live lives free from fear. I taught them that so many children are denied basic human rights that they, my students, take for granted. Because of this, I resolved to have students work in small ways to help other children. We have worked for the past two years making crafts and getting donations to support African children get a good education and acquire some essentials for living. It has been rewarding for my 8th grade students. Therefore, if Bono really came to my class as a guest teacher, I think he would spend the time speaking about the human rights issues that are important to him. He would probably teach with humor and sincerity. I'm sure the students would see his sincerity and open acceptance of them. He would encourage them because of their youth to give others an example of how they can make positive changes in the world. They can be the generation to bring about world peace. He would be a teacher whose impact would be long reaching. Because of U2 and Bono, I can honestly say that I am a better person and a better teacher to my students. Their music fills my classroom and creates great joy, as well as moments of reflection. In fact, I play their music before classes begin, which puts me in a good mood. So, I guess you can say that U2 are teachers in my classroom and have been for the past nine years. By, the way, they have an open invitation to be guest teachers in my room any time. Pennylane: Bono would teach Philosophy and Social Services. A classroom of students on an endless quest for love, peace, harmony and social equality for all. A new generation of humanitarians learning that every day is a new day, to change the world with a philosophical point of view. The Edge would teach Astronomy and dabble in Medieval Art. His class would make up of students deciding whether they want to be Vulcans, Klingons, or Earthlings. They would yearn to go where no man has gone before and to be the first to contact alien life. Their telescopic view of the night sky would be a daily discussion, until the boys realized that peeping into a girl’s next-door window is more pleasing to the eye than the sky. Larry would probably teach Architecture with a dabble in Political Science. His class eager to design and build the next tallest skyscraper, not only on paper but also with their bare hands, a room full of architectural geniuses ready to conquer the world with a hammer and nails. The girls of course would only daydream on how to blueprint Larry and take him home. Adam is a tough one. A smooth operator, so savoir-faire. He probably would have been one of those infomercial titans with these how to get rich schemes in 30 days or less, or the latest craze on overnight inventions. Just kidding Adam, I love u 2. I think I can see Adam teaching Entrepreneurialism to a classroom of go-getters, initiating new innovative and groundbreaking ideas. A new generation of mini Donald Trumps, all waiting to climb that corporate ladder. This is all in fun, gentlemen; I smiled the whole time. Elsha Stockseth: I can’t really imagine the U2 boys being school teachers because I don’t think they would enjoy being cooped up in the same rooms every day for nine months, especially Adam because he didn’t really like school when he was younger. If they were teachers though, I think that The Edge would teach Science and Art because he is really creative but also very smart, and I have heard that he is called "the scientist of the group." I think that Larry would teach Gym and Health since he doesn’t change as he ages. He must be doing something right ;) I think Bono would teach something like Political Science or something about how to be a great all-around person since he can seem to meet any political person he wants and since he is just a down to earth nice guy. As for Adam I am not quite sure what he would teach other than maybe cooking because I remember when he was cooking with Jamie Oliver a few years ago. Anyways I still don’t see the boys being teachers but if they were that is one school that I would do everything in my power to attend.
