@U2 QOM November 2009: Live Song DedicationsIf you could ask U2 to dedicate a song live, what song would you ask for, and what would you ask the dedication be?
@U2,
December 02, 2009
(Each month, @U2 puts a spotlight on U2 fans with our "Question of the Month." We pose a question to our readers and invite answers of 200 words or less. If you're interested in taking part, check our home page to see if the current question is still open. If not, check back shortly after the beginning of next month and we'll have another question ready to be answered!)
K.B. Fitzgerald: "With or Without You" - To a light who opened my heart, a street with no name, Michelle, may she rest in peace. Elsha Stockseth: Well I must say that I have been lucky enough to actually had this happen to me and I don't really think I could have planned it better than the way it happened. We were at the Denver 21st show in 2005 and had just been backstage with the whole band which was extremely awesome. During the song "Miracle Drug" which is one of my most favorite songs ever Bono said "I want to sing this for a sick young lady." At the concert I must admit that I actually didn't even hear it but after all my friends came running over asking me if I had heard it. They explained what he had said and they knew that he was talking about me since they knew that I had been backstage. I later got some recordings of it and really thought it was quite amazing. I really appreciate Bono and the boys for all they have done for me. Although I didn't get to meet them this year I hope to meet them in Denver in 2010. Glen Robertson: I'd recommend U2 dedicate "Moment of Surrender" to Michael Hutchence on January 22, 2010. I'd also request that U2 perform "Solsbury Hill" by Peter Gabriel, and perhaps have PG join them to perform one of their songs ("Walk On" or "Always"). Some logic behind this suggestion is:
Milton Yi: I would ask U2 to dedicate "I Will Follow" for my mother. She was diagnosed in 1979 with breast cancer and fought it for two years before passing in 1981. The first time I ever heard of U2 was this song in 1980 and I felt it conveyed all the feelings and emotions I was unable to express. Boy was the saving grace for me in a time of fear, sorrow and uncertainty. 29 years later, U2 is the ONLY band that still matters to me. The recent Rose Bowl show was the 41st U2 show in my lifetime and I'm not done yet...
