"In my pidgin English, Bono means good egg. He is my big brother and I love him."

@U2 QOM May 2012: It's Bono's birthday ...
and he is tired of store-bought presents. He wants a birthday gift you made, found or organized yourself. What do you give him?

(Each month, @U2 puts a spotlight on U2 fans with our "Question of the Month." We pose a question to our readers and invite answers of 200 words or less. If you're interested in taking part, check our home page to see if the current question is still open. If not, check back shortly after the beginning of next month and we'll have another question ready to be answered!)
Sandy Jones: For Bono’s birthday I use the skills I have to craft an oak split basket. The basket reminds us that even today, “we carry each other.” I’ve not dyed the basket but left it white in honor of the white flag signaling we must “surrender.” Inside the basket is a stone from the mountain property God is allowing me to steward, recalling, “He placed my feet upon a rock and made my footsteps firm.” Upon the stone I’ve inscribed a prayer of Bono’s choice. The accompanying homemade interactive BD card gives him a place to write his personal wishes and gives instructions on how to fold it into a paper plane to launch those wishes.
Vincenzo Madio: My present is an uber-collector set with a not good Italian grammar book called "Rocco" and a T-shirt with the same name. Then advice written on a green paper: "Please, work it hard, work it better." Everything will be signed VINCENZO
Patty Abrantes: I would like to organize a fun-filled day or week of games, food and entertainment for youth affected and infected by HIV/AIDS and make this birthday dedicated to them by Bono.
Janet Pruett: A hand-drawn T-shirt of "The dog named Hope."
Simone Ferreira: For Bono’s birthday I’ll give him a bottle of "cachaça." It’s a traditional beverage of the region I live in: Minas Gerais/Brazil. Just in case: only if I can do this person-to-person.
John Rajic: My birthday gift to Bono: a red guitar, three chords and the truth.
Juli Wright: For Bono's birthday, I'd give him a well-produced CD of a song I'd written for him. Then I'd tell him he could publicize the song, and sell as many as he liked, giving the profits to a charity of his choice. (I might mention that I'd be available for benefit concerts, too ;) teehee!)
John Goessens: I would give him my best wishes and a lot of inspiration to make beautiful music.
Katrina Carmichael: I would organize a surprise birthday party for Bono, and I would invite all those whose lives he has changed with the RED campaign. Everyone would wear RED to this party, and present Bono with RED cards & homemade gifts. I think the birthday gift Bono would cherish the most would be to see all the smiling faces. I would toast him with a glass of RED wine. Of course, what better place to hold this event than RED Rocks; after all, I would need a place that would hold thousands of people!
Sue Constatino: I know that Bono was an avid chess player. I would give him a ceramic chess set that I made years ago -- a Watergate chess set. It certainly is one of a kind, just like Bono!
