(Each month, @U2 puts a spotlight on U2 fans with our "Question of the Month." We pose a question to our readers and invite answers of 200 words or less. If you're interested in taking part, check our home page to see if the current question is still open. If not, check back shortly after the beginning of next month and we'll have another question ready to be answered!) Thanks to all the fans who sent in questions! Please note that we've edited a few of them for clarity. We'll use some of them in coming months!
Do you cry or do your eyes well up when you hear a U2 song? Give an example. What TV show would you love to see US appear on, and why? If you could talk to U2, what message from the fans would you tell the band they need to hear and/or be involved in? Lance Schart: What would the music world be like in an "alternate universe" If U2 had never signed a recording contract? What would be the ideal U2.com membership "free gift" CD or DVD contain? What are your favorite U2-related graphic elements, album covers, icons, DVD menu screens, tour logos, etc? What "unreleased" songs (studio or sound check bootlegs) are on your iTunes playlists? Would U2 remain relevant if they stopped touring and only produced studio recordings (like The Beatles)? How many times will each studio album will be re-re-mastered, each with "new, previously unreleased" music will appear; how many versions would you be willing to buy? Phillip Rollas: What musical direction should U2 take next? This could be in the realm of a total sonic makeover for the band (a la Achtung Baby) or just a simple step forward (say, incorporating more world music influences into their sound). Maria Diorio: For those who have to wait until the new concert dates, are you still going to attend, and has this affected how you feel about U2? Matt Catalano: Specifically speaking, what do you love most about the experience of traveling to, socializing at and watching a U2 gig?
