"What I like about pop music, and why I'm still attracted to it, is that in the end it becomes our folk music." -- Bono, 2004 |

@U2 QOM April 2009: Your perfect U2 concert experience?Tour fever is upon us... so what one thing would make a U2 concert a perfect experience for you?
@U2,
May 06, 2009
(Each month, @U2 puts a spotlight on U2 fans with our "Question of the Month." We pose a question to our readers and invite answers of 200 words or less. If you're interested in taking part, check our home page to see if the current question is still open. If not, check back shortly after the beginning of next month and we'll have another question ready to be answered!)
-- Kevin Shannon To be backstage and to see all the work, nerves and sheer brilliance emerge... and pick the set list. ;) -- Kathy Polglase A live performance of "Bad." My favourite song, and I have never heard it live in person. I just got tickets to the concert in September in Toronto, so I'm holding out hope this will be the time. -- Nick Fay If Bono would pick me out of the audience to sing and/or dance with him like he did at Live Aid during the song "Bad" with a fan that attended the concert in London. -- Debbie Clark Finally frakking play "Acrobat." -- Steven Deboer If I could get on stage with the band and sing with them and be part of the show. Or to have the opportunity to sneak my way past security and meet them and have a friendly chat, pictures, autographs, have a few laughs. That would make my concert (going to Toronto show Sept. 16) complete. That would be my perfect experience. -- Maria Diorio If I could hear "Mercy", "Streets" and "Bad" back to back in one show, I think it would be an out-of-body experience! -- Jennifer Johnston A hug from Bono. -- Jennifer L. McColley To have my second favorite band, Muse, open up for them... oh, wait, THEY ARE!!! -- PJ For this upcoming tour, I just can not wait until all 68,0000-plus fans in attendance shout at the top of their lungs in unison: I KNOW I'LL GO CRAZY IF I DON'T GO CRAZY TONIGHT!! -- Howard Cutter If they would play "A Sort of Homecoming." It's one of my favorite tunes and I have never heard them play it live. -- Eric Weiss
-- Marvin Lee Tang A set list that isn’t completely predictable every night.... I get that the songs will be similar night to night, but switch up the running order so I know I'm not seeing show A or B. -- Scott Zumsteg The perfect tour experience for me would be to meet the boys again either before or after the show. I would also love to hang out and meet up with all my U2 friends. Then my dream would be to be front and center as close to the stage as possible. I have always wanted to be that close but don't dare because since I am in a wheelchair I don't want to get hurt by the other people. I would love the concert to last for as long as possible and then when it is over I would love to just hang out with my U2 friends again and talk about how awesome the day had been and then we could all go and "dream it all up again." -- Elsha Stockseth I have a few things that would make this tour perfect:
-- Dan in NJ I've always dreamed about my ultimate U2 concert experience, and there's only one way to accomplish that... let ME make the night's set list. Oh, the possibilities. -- Glen Heidenreich The ability to roam the stadium like the angels in Wings of Desire and "Faraway, So Close!", listening to the thoughts of the band and the audience. It would be better than U2 3D! Of course, after the show, I'd shed my wings, become human and fall in love with a beautiful circus trapeze artist (whose favorite band, naturally, is...wait for it....). -- Jonathan Lowe Getting into the coveted inner circle surrounding the stage. I went to nine Vertigo gigs and only got into the inner circle just once (Boston) on a fluke. The ideal benefit for Horizon (and longtime Propaganda members ~ #714) would be the guaranteed admittance to the smaller area. One can wish... -- Milton Yi Meeting Bono, Edge, Larry and Adam, and being asked to sing with them on the new album. -- Angie Blue The perfect U2 concert always ends with "40". It's absolutely not complete without the whole stadium singing, "Hoooow looong to sing this song? Hooooow long to sing this song?....." as they filter out the doors. It's magical. -- Mac
