U2 preps for Rock Hall concert
@U2,
October 28, 2009
The U2 360 tour wrapped up with tonight's concert in Vancouver, and now U2 turns its attention to Friday night's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The band may have already started rehearsing, in fact. They arrived in Vancouver a day early, and there were several reports of an early morning rehearsal inside BC Place Stadium today. If you're wondering what to expect on Friday, this interesting LA Times article sheds some light on U2's appearance: Bono of U2 said he is eager and even a bit anxious about his band's closing set Friday night. A still-unannounced icon from the 1960s is scheduled to perform with the Irish group, and Bono said he wouldn't mind more rehearsal time for such a special moment. This page from the official Rock Hall 25 web site sheds a little more light on things: U2 will be performing material from their vast catalog of music and will be inviting special guests onstage for never-before-seen collaborations. Check back soon to see who they'll be performing with. As a reminder, the concerts will be shown on HBO ... but not until November 29. Update, October 29: There are two separate Rolling Stones fan message boards that are saying the "unannounced icon from the 1960s" will be none other than Mick Jagger. Links: one and two.
