In its last scheduled performance of 2009, U2 played a six-song set in front of the historic Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. The performance was part of the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards, and was also timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall (on November 9). The full setlist and recap is available on U2tours.com. Of note -- Jay-Z joined the band on-stage during "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and did some rapping that morphed into a couple lines from Bob Marley's "Get Up Stand Up." U2 soundchecked "Stay," the song usually associated with U2 and Berlin, but didn't play it live. They also only played one song from Achtung Baby, the album U2 recorded in Berlin in 1990-1991. Update: U2's first three songs aired during the MTV EMA show. On YouTube, there's a great high-def medley of "One" and "Magnificent" and a separate (also high-def) version of "Sunday Bloody Sunday." Both songs have been removed by Viacom, MTV's parent company. U2 also won the Best Live Act award during the ceremony.
