U2 performs four songs at Saturday Night Live
@U2,
September 26, 2009
During an otherwise forgettable season premiere of Saturday Night Live, U2 performed three songs during the show and continued to play one more song afterward just for the NBC studio audience. Of note, U2 played three non-singles on a national TV show: "Breathe" was first, followed by a shortened version of "Moment of Surrender," and the show ended while U2 did "Ultraviolet" complete with Bono's laser-light jacket and the swinging microphone routine. After the broadcast ended, U2 played one more song -- "With or Without You" -- just for the studio audience. Bono ad-libbed/rapped quite a bit during the instrumental portions of "Moment of Surrender," and you may agree that his words add some depth to the song lyrics (esp. the second ad-lib). @U2 reader Nick Davies posted the audio of both via Twitter: first ad-lib and second ad-lib.
