"Rock and roll started out as dance music, but somewhere along the way it lost its hips and became rhythmically simplistic."

The Edge talks about the next step of Music Generation

@U2, August 13, 2014
By: Fernanda Bottini

Music Generation, a music education program, is set to become a long-term and lasting part of Irish education.

The project, funded by U2 and Ireland Funds, provides children and young people access to high-quality music education -- vocal and instrumental -- in their local area. Together U2 and Ireland Funds will continue to co-fund it until the end of 2015 as The Department of Education and Skills funding is phased in.

The Edge talked to some students about music ideas and encouraged their creativity and artistic ability. He also talked about this next step of the project.

"I believe it's a documented fact that exposure to music makes a better society. We're still practicing but we were lucky enough to attend a school with great music programme and that is why Music Generation is so important to us. We are very proud of its success and the fact that it will continue into the future."

Some photos of Edge were shared on Facebook.
