Stuck in a Super Bowl Moment
NFL.com,
January 24, 2002
By now you know that U2 will be performing live during halftime at Super Bowl XXXVI in New Orleans. You might be wondering, "What does a band from Ireland know about American football?"
Plenty, as it turns out. Rumor has it that Bono is a pretty big Green Bay Packers fan. Even further evidence of their football fandom is their video for the hit single "Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of." The video transpires at a football game, and it depicts a moment that many an NFL kicker has been stuck in before: missing a potential game-winning field goal as time expires. The video even features a cameo from Fox Sports analyst John Madden. Check out the "Stuck in a Moment..." video, but first, check out these interesting behind-the-scenes facts about the video that you might not have known: 1. The football teams in the video are the Flys vs. the Lemons. Both refer to U2 songs ("Lemon" and "The Fly"). 2. The stadium in which the game is played is the Unforgettable Firedome (refers to U2's The Unforgettable Fire album). 3. The coach of the Lemons is Dave Evans. That's the Edge's real name. 4. The Flys' coach is Paul McGuiness. The real-life McGuiness is U2's manager. 5. McGuiness is credited as having won the "Triple Pride Bowl Crown" (reference to the song "Pride (In the Name of Love)." 6. The Flys' kicker, who misses the kick, is Paul Hewson. That's Bono's real name. © NFL.com, 2002. All rights reserved.
