Rolling Stone on U2's 2012 Plans and Relationship with Apple/Steve Jobs

Rolling Stone has a couple interesting articles online today, one of which expands on the recent article where Edge said there's a 50/50 chance of U2 putting out new music in 2012. In the full article, Bono also talks about U2's future plans somewhat ominously:

"I'm not so sure the future hasn't dried up," says Bono, who's been irritating his bandmates lately by publicly questioning U2's relevance -- despite the fact that they just finished the highest-grossing tour of all time. "The band are like, 'Will you shut up about being irrelevant?'" he says. But Bono can't help himself -- even though U2 have been in and out of the studio with various producers recently, he raises the possibility that the band may have released its final album. "We'd be very pleased to end on No Line on the Horizon," he says, before acknowledging the unlikelihood of that scenario: "I doubt that."

Bono goes on to talk about U2 re-emerging and reinventing "for the next phase," so I wouldn't put too much stock in the idea that NLOTH was U2's last album.

In a separate article, Rolling Stone discusses some of the music-related highlights of the new Steve Jobs biography -- including some new info. about Jobs' relationship with Bono and U2. The article mentions that U2 and Apple were unable to strike a deal in 2009 to have "Get On Your Boots" featured in another iPod commercial, similarly to how "Vertigo" was featured in 2004.
