"It's the most un-rock 'n' roll thing you could do, so I never ever talked about it, but that was actually my obsession before rock-and-roll."

Irish Concert Promoter Says U2 In Talks to Play Croke Park in 2016

Concert promoter Denis Desmond says U2 is in talks to play again at Dublin's Croke Park in 2016.

Desmond, the co-founder of MCD Productions, was on Today FM's Ray D'Arcy Show on Wednesday morning. The conversation focused on the recent mess where Garth Brooks canceled five shows at the stadium, but near the end of the interview, they looked ahead to future shows.

D'Arcy: What about next year, would you be in talks with people for Croke Park gigs for next year?

Desmond: Yes, we would be.

D'Arcy: Would U2 be in the frame for that?

Desmond: No, not next year, but the year after.

The conversation can be heard online (at least temporarily) on the Today FM website.

U2 has played Croke Park 10 times dating back to 1985, including three shows in 2009 as part of the 360 tour.
