"I feel like it's always raining in our songs, that bittersweetness. . . . We surrender too easily to the blues. We, if we're not careful, are bleeding all over the world."

Bono Visits Israel & the West Bank

@U2, April 11, 2012
By: Matt McGee / @mattmcgee

It's been about six weeks or so since Bono vacationed in Peru, and now it seems the next vacation (if we can call it that) has him in Israel and the West Bank.

It all seems to have started on Monday, when Bono was spotted in the Tel Aviv area (article in Hebrew), prompting all kinds of speculation about the reasons for his visit (with wife Ali and at least some family members, according to a few reports). Today, there are reports that the Hewsons visited the West Bank on Tuesday.

UPDATE: Bono and family visited the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem on Thursday. There are about 10 photos on Zimbio if you're interested. He's not the only one vacationing in an exotic locale this week. As U2 Brazil reported, Adam Clayton was seen in Rio de Janeiro on Monday.

UPDATE, April 16: According to this article (in Hebrew), Bono was in the Tel Aviv area on Saturday and met with a variety of Israeli and Palestinian artists.

UPDATE, April 17: Bono's visit to Israel ended on Sunday (April 15). According to this article (in Hebrew), Bono turned down an offer from Israeli President Shimon Peres for a meeting, saying he'd promised his kids that the trip to Israel would be low-key. Bono offered to have dinner and a pint with Peres next time he's in Ireland/Europe.
