Bono: No to Twitter, Yay to Foursquare and Yelp

@U2, August 20, 2010
By: Matt McGee / @mattmcgee

Appearing today on the premiere edition of Ryan Tubridy's 2FM radio show, Bono answered a question that a lot of U2 fans have been wondering: Why aren't you on Twitter?

"I think I lead a public enough life. I have a place now to put the exhibitionist in me, and that's in front of U2. I don't feel like I want to be online all the time, although there's some very exciting things out there -- whether it's Foursquare or Yelp or things like that. I love those innovations."

Tubridy is replacing the legendary Gerry Ryan, who died earlier this year and was a close friend of U2's. In the phone chat, Bono and Tubridy spoke about the U2 360 tour a bit, as well as Bono's recent back injury. Bono didn't want to get into details of the injury but refuted media reports that he fell off a bicycle:

"No, I didn't fall off a bike. I had a pretty close call, though, and I ... (sighs) ... I don't want to get into the details. It's so boring to talk about. I feel like some old geezer. Of course, I am an old geezer! What was dangerous about it was that a piece of a disk had ripped through a ligament, had gone down into the spinal canal, and I sort of lost the use of my left leg. I don't want to talk about this, let's talk about you!"

The interview runs about 13 minutes and you can download it from the RTE web site. (thx to Ciaran for the tip)
