Answer Guy: Where does Adam get those pants?

![]() From: Mark I was wondering where Adam Clayton, the poshest member of the band, did his shopping. Especially those sweet reddish camouflauge pants. Thanks. - An Adam Clayton Obsessed Amateur Bassist Dear AACOAB: As a bassist, you must know that once you master the four strings, it's up to your stage outfit to impress the fans. Adam knows this better than anyone. All of Adam's pants are provided by Spanky's House of Fatigues which is located in Dayton, Ohio. During his travels around the country while making the Rattle and Hum album and film, Adam found Spanky's quite by accident. Adam was looking for a colorful, unique, durable, and let's be honest, roomy pant that he could wear during live shows. The pants all have plenty of pocket space for his lighter and the five packs of cigarettes he keeps on his person at all times. I'm told one pocket is for his picks, another pocket for his "little black book" (now a Handspring PDA with extra memory so each of the supermodels can have their own entry). There is a small pocket at the back of the pants for any new additions to his spoon collection. So you see, Adam and Spanky are a fashion match made in heaven. Spanky makes his pants in many colors, but Adam has lately been partial to the red ones, although its hard to say in what sort of landscape he'd be camouflaged.
From: Augustus I want to know who the keyboard player is when U2 are on tour or playing live at other events. Dear Augustus: To keep costs down during a tour, it is a well-known cost-saving measure to use local work crews to load in and break down the stage set. These local crews are supervised by U2's own employees and truck drivers who work every venue. The band and manager Paul McGuinness again showed their business acumen by extending this local crew idea to the keyboard player as well. Here's how it works: colleges and music schools are told about the concert date and tryouts are held in each town. The audition music for this tour has been the simple chords at the beginning of "Walk On." The scout is looking for several specific things. The applicant must be able to keep a secret (the band continues to say that Edge controls all keyboard samples with his feet -- Please!), the applicant must be of shorter-than-average height so that they can comfortably move around Underworld (the area beneath the stage), they must have a minimum of three fingers on each hand as the chords they play are important, but not complex, by any means, and most importantly, the applicant must be willing to accept $4.75 an hour. If this sounds like something you'd like to try, I'd say, get in there and practice!
From: Scott Not sure this is an appropriate question or whether you can answer it but -- what is the make of the leather jacket Bono is wearing on stage during the Elevation Tour? And where can a person purchase one? Dear Scott: There's no such thing as an inappropriate question. I don't think you can buy one, but you might want to read this story for more info: http://www.atu2.com/news/article.src?ID=1150.
From: Joe What's the story on Bono's affair(s) and his relationship with Ali? Are they still together? Can you either fill me in or point me to a resource that could? Dear Joe: Bono and his wife, Ali, have been married continuously since 1982. There has never been any discussion about any affairs and frankly, I don't think it's any of our business. Such an inappropriate question!
