The concept of a boy band is quite bizarre. It's a completely artificial version of the street gang, really." -- Edge |

Answer Guy: When will Zooropa and Pop finally get the respect they deserve?

From: Matt When will Zooropa and Pop finally get the respect they deserve? Dear Matt: I'll be nominating both Zooropa and Pop for recognition at the 3rd Annual Forgotten and Underappreciated Albums Conference (FUAC) which happens later this summer in Tulsa, the reigning champ in the International Forgotten and Underappreciated City (IFUC) competition. (Are you kidding? U2 hasn't played there since 1983!) I'm sure the U2 albums will do well, but stiff competition is expected from Meat Loaf's Midnight at the Lost and Found, Air Supply's Hearts in Motion, and Toad the Wet Sprocket's entire back catalog.
From: Debbie I have a question. Anytime I saw U2's "The Hands That Built America" listed as one of the Academy Awards nominated Original Song for a Motion Picture, how come it didn't simply say that the artist that wrote the lyrics & music is U2?? It always read...The Hands That Built America by Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen, Adam Clayton?? I wasn't quite sure if there was some reason I wasn't aware of as to why their names were listed individually instead of it reading by U2? Dear Debbie: I'm no Hollywood elitist (but not for lack of trying) but it seems to me the song was credited that way so that each band member could have his own little gold statue had the song actually won an Oscar award. Had the song been credited to "U2" as a single entity, they would have had to share the trophy amongst the four of them. Given Bono's penchant for losing things, no one thought that was a smart idea.
From: Peg I'm reading "Until the End of the World" for the third time and was wondering if you know which concert they keep mentioning. In the beginning of the book, they keep speaking of how they got so bored during the Rattle and Hum tour that they played a complete concert backwards. Know which one? Dear Peg: It's December 1st, 1989 at Osaka, Japan -- but the comments about the whole show being played backward are a stretch. The main set was really turned upside down, but encore songs were still played in the encore, etc.
From: Richard I live in vancouver british columbia canada.I have been very lucky to have seen them about 11 times over the last 10 yrs. every time they have played here in vancouver, they have played all in door shows. Here's my question" Are U2's tour management aware of the university of british columbia's football stadium, which is a beautiful outdoor facility to have a show? Dear Richard: That stadium was brought to U2's attention around the time of the B.C. Place shows in November 1992, after Naomi gave Adam a special "outdoor request." It was a beautiful place to have a show, if you know what I mean.
