@U2 Birthday Bash

Throughout 2005, @U2 invited U2 fans to join us in celebrating our 10th birthday. The party ended in Portland with ... a party! It was @U2's 10th Birthday Bash and, despite some terrible weather, the party went on and was a smashing success.

More than 200 U2 fans were on hand at Kells Irish Restaurant & Pub, having braved snow in the sky and ice on the streets. The evening began with @U2's Matt McGee and Answer Guy joining forces to share results from our 2005 Fan Survey, a presentation which managed to be both informative and funny at the same time. @U2's Kelly Eddington contributed her artistic talents to two of the three custom-made birthday cakes which we ordered from one of the top bakeries in Portland. There were prize giveaways throughout the night, two bars, good food, and plenty of fun to go around.

Entertainment for the evening (beyond what Answer Guy and M2 offered) was provided by @U2's own Scott Perretta, who performed a terrific set of acoustic U2 covers. And headlining the party was Bay Area-based U2 tribute band Zoo Station, who had the 2nd floor shaking (literally) during their nearly 2-hour set. Great thanks to Zoo Station and Scott P. for two excellent performances!

And thanks to the 200 of you who joined us, weather be damned! It was a wonderful birthday party, and we're glad to have shared it with you.
