I'm a journalist who jumped ship to the 'dark side' a.k.a public relations about seven years ago. But it's okay, I work for the good guys - Legal Aid in Queensland, Australia - managing their communication team. My dream job would be working for D.A.T.A ... but I'm guessing there's a huge queue of people with their hands-up for one of those communication gigs!
My workmates and long-suffering husband think I'm a crazy U2 fanatic, but I think I've managed to convince them that I'm really not that bad. Sure I've travelled all the way to Ireland to see them in concert, lined-up for eight hours to get their autographs on the Gold Coast, listened for sounds of music outside their digs in the south of France and managed to get them on the front page of the newspaper (back in my journalist days), but come on, I haven't got any U2 tattoos or named a pet after a band member and I don't plan to call any of my kids Edge or Bono. At least not at this stage anyway.
I've been a U2 fan since 1988 when my very cool Aunty gave me a copy of The Joshua Tree. I've seen them play live in 1993 (ZooTV), 1998 (PopMart), 2005 (Vertigo at Croke Park in Dublin) and 2006 (Vertigo in Brisbane and Sydney, Australia). I've been reading the @U2 site since 2000 and I'm honoured to be part of such a fantastic team.
