Collectors' F.A.Q.

Question

From: Jason H. Iowa

I have a red vinyl single with live versions of "Trip Through Your Wires" and "Exit," and a third song called "Womanfish." The words are completely different than what appeared on The Joshua Tree (at least for the songs on the record). Is this worth anything and how rare is it?

Chris Nilsen: There should be 4 songs on the record, I think the other is "In God's Country." "Trip" and "Womanfish" were taken from an Irish TV appearance in Jan. 1986. The other 2 tracks were recorded in Belfast in March 1987 for the Old Grey Whistle Test show.

The red vinyl issue was the 2nd pressing. It came out in green, red, blue and then black. It's fairly rare as most bootlegs are, but you can't really assess an absolute value to it. It's basically worth whatever someone else might pay you for it.

"We can write songs about God and have them right next to songs about girls. I think we weave God, sex and politics together in a way that's very unusual to white music."
