Collectors' F.A.Q.
Question
From: Matthew K., Cheddar
I would like to know how much you would price the rare U-2000
box set which contains the album as well as a lighter, woollen
hat and other items?
It is said to be limited to only 1000 worldwide. However, if
this is the case, then how come it appears fairly often on the
big auctions such as Ebay and Amazon, plus it appears to be
fairly easy to find on the Net- many shopping websites sell
it? If there are only 1000, surely it would be practically impossible
to find this promo box at all. Do you know if there is any truth
in the "only 1000 worldwide" statement - or is it
just that there are many replicas and fakes of this promo collection?
Chris Nilsen: The box set is not
a promo or an official release. These type of things come out
regularly now after U2 releases an album. Since it is a fairly
new item you are likely to find it easily for the moment. Chances
are they made 1000 or maybe a little more, which is a fairly
good amount to satisfy demand. Most seasoned collectors stay
away from these things because they are typically overpriced
when you consider the contents, and they rarely rise in value.
