Collectors' F.A.Q.

Question

From Stan, New Jersey

On your price guide, namely your vinyl pricings, how can I tell if a single is a re-issue or an original?

Chris Nilsen: If you are speaking about the 7" Irish singles, most Irish originals will have orange & yellow labels AND have "UKTM No.B81 8091" printed on the right edge of the label after the copyright warning. Copies without the UKTM No. are very likely reissues from Pac 1 or 2, as are the solid red label issues. Some exceptions would be "Fire" and "A Celebration" which have black labels on the originals, like the UK pressings. Original Irish pressings are very tough to find, especially with all of the reissues around.

"Every review should have, below the name of the critic, their 10 current favourite works in the medium. That way you have some chance of seeing their prejudices."
