Collectors' F.A.Q.
Question
From: Kelly, Utah
How much are old magazines featuring U2 worth, if anything?
Eric Naulaerts: U2 World Service
Magazines go around $10-15 USD but the first ones are more expensive.
Propaganda go around $10 USD except the first 3, they almost
get more than $50 USD. Other fanzines and unofficial mags are
difficult to price.
Brian Streeter: There are several
factors in determing the value of old magazines with U2. Overall
condition and completeness is the biggest. What that means is,
are the staples still tight, bindings not loosened up, and not
missing pictures, have tears, etc.? Also, is U2 the only artist
featured on the cover? Some people only collect magazines with
just a single artist on the cover. Another factor is what is
the Country of Origin of the magazine. For instance, if someone
lives in England, chances are it is harder for them to get magazines
from the United States. The bottom line, as with most collectible
items, still depends largely on what someone is willing to pay
for an item.
Matt McGee: The only thing I would
add to the discussion about older magazines is that the 1987
issue of TIME with U2 on the cover has become a fairly valuable
collectors' item. We posted a column on @U2 about this last
year:

Good luck.
