U2 COLLECTORS' GUIDE

Collectors' F.A.Q.

Question

From: Joe Williams, Nova Scotia

I have found a Russian Double LP entitled "Greenpeace Breakthrough" on which U2 plays 1 (or more, i don't remember) songs. The only numbers I can read are A 600439008 and a copyright date of 1988. Any ideas on how much this might be worth?

Peter Longworth: In the UK this is normally advertised between £10 and £20. The U2 track on the album is "Pride (In the name of love)."

Peter Hanning: The song in question is, I recall, the live version of Pride from R&H, but with a slightly longer intro. As for its value, I'll leave that up to the vinyl experts of the group.

I found my copy, which had slight ring wear, for US$6, but I'm not sure if that reflects its true value.

SOUNDBYTE

"I remember the frustration of hearing a melody in my head but not being able to quite put it down. So you learn to rely on other people, the band, and you start thinking that's a weakness. But it's a strength to rely on others."

-- Bono, 2004
