Introduction To This Article

"This tongueless, toothless instrument, without larynx or pharynx, mimics your tones, speaks with your voice, utters your words and centuries after you have crumbled into dust, may repeat every idle thought, every fond fancy, every vain word that you choose to whisper against the thin, iron diaphragm."

Thomas A. Edison

The information presented in this article is based on my experiences with vinyl, information I've read/heard over the years, and information found more recently on the Internet. When possible, selected sources have been cited so that you can investigate a topic further. All information presented is as complete as I could make it given the time I had for this project, and any mistakes are unintentional.
